Zovo Tip Pool Calculator

Split pooled tips by hours, points or role and work out tip-outs to the cent, with a printable tip sheet.

Zovo Tip Pool Calculator is a tip pool calculator and tip out calculator for restaurant, bar, cafe and salon managers. Give it the night's tips (cash and card, with an optional card-fee deduction) and the staff with their hours, points or roles, and it splits the pool by hours worked, by points x hours, by role percentage such as 70% servers, 20% bussers, 10% bar, or in equal shares. It also works out tip-outs, where servers tip out a percent of their sales or tips to bussers, bartenders, hosts and runners. Each share is rounded to the cent with the largest-remainder method, so the shares add up to the pool. A printable PDF tip sheet with a signature line for each person and a CSV are included, and a week view adds up several shifts per person.

What it does

Split tips by hours worked, by points x hours, by role percentage (for example 70/20/10), or equally
Tip-out calculator: servers tip out a percent of sales or tips to bussers, bartenders, hosts and runners, shared by hours
Cash and card tips with an optional card processing fee deducted from card tips
Cents with largest-remainder rounding, so the shares add up to the pool; optional whole-dollar cash payouts
Week view: several shifts with their own tips, added up per person
Staff lists typed, pasted one per line, or pasted as CSV with a header row
Printable PDF tip sheet with a signature line for each person, plus a CSV for payroll
Plain-language explanation of the method and the per-hour rate
A note when a manager, supervisor or owner is in the pool (US FLSA rule)

Try asking

“Split $1,240 in tips by hours for Ana 6.5, Ben 5, Cara 7.25, Dev 4”

“Tip out calculator for Ana, who sold $1,850 with $340 tips, and Ben, $1,420 with $260. Busser 3% of sales, bar 1.5% of sales”

“Split $980 in tips as 70% servers, 20% bussers, 10% bar. Servers Ana 6h, Ben 5h; busser Kim 6h; bar Lee 7h”

Limitations

Informational only and not legal, tax or payroll advice; tip pool and tip-out rules differ by country and US state
Under US federal law (FLSA), managers and supervisors may not keep tips from a tip pool; the tool flags these roles but does not decide who is eligible
Does not connect to a POS or payroll system, store staff lists, or compute taxes or wages
Up to 120 staff rows per calculation
